Hawke moves to stand and there's a moment of flared panic in his gut that has his hand tensing at the same time as the other one braces on Hawke's shoulder to keep him from standing.

"That you're apparently not ready to continue or you'd be mind me and keeping your focus on the scene. You didn't answer my question and I didn't invite yours. Back on your knees Adalwolfe Hawke and you tell me when you're ready to continue or I will take matters into my own hands."

That was the solution: keep the scene, maintain his control, show Hawke that even if he noticed something was wrong, Chris was not incapable of locking it away.
