Hawke calls his word and it's automatic how Chris' hands fall away back to his side as he takes a step back. Everything about him is politically neutral instead of the concern he might display were this in the middle of the scene. Or for Hawke's benefit. Instead, he's quietly on the defensive and he knows it.

"Hawke...If you're calling your word in the interest of your own protection, because you don't feel safe with me right now, then I apologize for that and would make it right. If you're calling it while chasing a perceived inability in me, then it is not appreciated."
