Why did he ask when he's now not even sure what to do with the answer? So it could have been anyone...wasn't it better it had been him? Someone who could try and work through this with her as opposed to someone uncaring or cruel? Yet a selfish part of him wishes it hadn't been him as well. It felt like another layer of filth on him. He was capable of knowing he was killing someone he loved and doing it anyway...out of malice. He was capable of assaulting and violating someone he loved while knowing exactly what he was doing and his twisted why. Even if his mind had been not entirely his own in either case...what sort of monster did that make him? What else could he do and rationalize away?

Some of the despair Wolfe had shaken from him settles back into the core of his heart and he gives a small nod and wipes at his eyes to clear them. None of that.

"I'm glad it was me...I'd rather be the one to help you now. What...what can I do to help you with closure now? What will soften the ache to start?"
