[There's a beat, a pause because gods but he's awkward when it comes to hitting up people he hasn't actually met.]

We haven't met but Hawke mentioned you and said you do magic and so.. hi?

[There'd been a bit of encouragement from Hawke, but he doesn't add in that part. He's making an attempt, anyway. It would be different if he had his friends from home, but he knows he should find himself more friends than just Anders.]

[Oh Hawke. When he'd told festival Hawke was a nosy fuck, he suspected that may be the lighter description for him. The man was a meddler and Chris was going to end up punching him one of these days, he was fairly sure.]

Hello. Afraid he neglected to give a name of any sort when mentioning us lowly people he was trying to help, so you've got step up on me so far as that.

But, yeah, I've got magic. It's a little different from his kind of magic or the flavors around town 'cept one I know of. Ever heard of a cleric?

[Well, Hawke has mentioned Festival and brought up Chris possibly contracting with him. So it wasn't entirely Hawke being a meddler. This time.]

No, but I'm still trying to figure out magic and that- stuff. To be completely honest. So, what's a cleric?

Ah, new to the stuff, I gotcha. Guess it can have different meanings from world to world but, for mine, it means a person who prays to their god and gets their magic that way. I serve a goddess of death, my faith to her gets me a portion of her power to use as I need. Not all magic users are like that back home, mind; there's plenty others who get their magic through other means, that's just my path. Do you use magic or just curious to know?

Nosy, yeah, but he seems to have good intentions so it's hard to hold it against him- too much.

[It was definitely a little bit annoying, but there were worse things, after all. There's a slight pause before he answers, and there's a touch of a sigh.]

I... well, I guess I use it a little bit. Ignored that I could most of my life, though, so it's still all really new to me. Hardly know how it all works, to be honest.

Aah.. [He hadn't been born with magic, he couldn't imagine trying to ignore it if you had it, but he could picture several reasons why.]

Well, not sure I'm much help for it other than practicing with and on, I've never had to 'learn' same way as others. That said, seems to me you're in a good place for learning, there's plenty here who know magic and can help teach it. Be happy to talk with you about it if you need, though.
